After a high-speed car chase through the streets of Brighton and Roxbury, Harvard police this week arrested two men who stole a car from a street adjoining the Business School.

As he drove to work at 4 p.m. Monday, Harvard Police Officer Kevin J. Harrington spotted three men double parked next to a 1990 Honda Accord at the corner of Gordon and North Harvard Street.

Harrington then saw Antonio E. Andrews, 32, and Roy Singh, 20, both of Dorchester, steal the Accord.

The off-duty officer gave chase, and police cruiser #291, which was driven by Officer Patrick Griffin, was dispatched from the Harvard police post at the Medical School, according to Lt. John F. Rooney, who is the director of the criminal investigation division.

Police attempted to use their cars to box the suspects in on Hemenway St. But they turned up Huntington Ave. instead.

Police reports show the suspects lost control of their car on the corner of Huntington and Parker St., where their car hit a light pole.

"A foot pursuit ensued and they were arrested subsequently," Rooney said in an interview yesterday.

The lieutenant said that Harvard security guard Frank J. Direnzo Jr. also participated in the foot pursuit.

According to Rooney, Andrews and Singh have been charged with a number of things.

These include receiving a stolen motor vehicle, receiving stolen property, assault with a motor vehicle, possession of burglar's tools and numerous other motor vehicle charges.

Rooney also said that at least of the men was found to be carrying cocaine.
