A fire at a hair salon at the Cambridge Galleria Mall led police and firefighters to evacuate the building and block traffic on JFK Street south of Mount Auburn Street.

Brenda I. Dalli, a hairdresser, discovered the small fire and phoned 911.

Although the fire did not directly cause any injuries, one woman twisted her ankle while exiting the building and was taken to a local hospital.

Another minor fire, this time in the tracks of a Red Line T tunnel, caused a stir in Cambridge this week. The fire forced travelers to evacuate the northern half of the line, including the Harvard Square station.

"There was a fire in the rail bed, burrowed underneath the rail," Cambridge Fire Department Deputy Chief William Rose said at the time.

Officials shut down service on both the inbound and outbound lines as firefighters controlled the blaze. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

Earlier in the day, professional wrestler and Slim Jim spokesperson Randy "The Macho Man" Savage was recognized as Real Man of the Year in a competing ceremony sponsored by the Harvard Lampoon. Kline declined a wrestling challenge from Savage.
