Jim Turner Named Offensive Line Coach

By Michael R. Volonnino, Crimson Staff Writer

Harvard has hired former Boston College football captain and Northeastern defensive line coach Jim Turner to be the offensive line coach and run game coordinator for the football team.

Turner spent 1999 guiding the offensive line at Louisiana Tech, which had the top passing attack in the nation last year, averaging 402.1 yards.

The Crimson's offensive line struggled last season, as it returned only junior left tackle Mike Clare, who has been named the new captain of the team. Next year the line will return four starters but must compensate for the loss of senior tailback Chris Menick, Harvard's all-time leading rusher.

"Jim Turner brings the mentality, work ethic and experience that will have a positive impact on our football program," Harvard Coach Tim Murphy said.

Turner replaces Bob Stitt, who left in January to become head coach at the Colorado School of Mines.
