Harvard Undergraduate Assaulted By Three Men

By Reed B. Rayman, Crimson Staff Writer

A Harvard undergraduate was assaulted by three male suspects while walking near the Harvard Law School campus last Wednesday, according to a report released by the Harvard University Police Department (HUPD).

The victim, whose name has not been released, reported to police that the suspects took his wallet, cellular phone, and watch before speeding off in a green sports utility vehicle. The incident occurred on Chauncy Street near Mass. Ave. around 11:50 p.m.

The victim told police that during the robbery, he was struck on the arm by a blunt metal object but sustained no serious physical injury.

Because the robbery did not take place on Harvard property, it is being investigated by the Cambridge Police Department (CPD). According to CPD spokesman Frank T. Pasquarello, no arrests have been made.

HUPD spokesman Steven G. Catalano said last Wednesday’s robbery was the first in the area recently.

“That’s not an area where there’s generally been a lot of street crime,” he said.

The victim identified three light-skinned males as suspects. The first is described as age 20, five feet seven inches tall and 145 pounds, and the second is age 20, six feet tall and 175 pounds. The victim could not provide a detailed description of the third suspect.
