William Duane '93, professor of Bio-Physics at the University, whose recent discovery of the means of obtaining very penetrating X-rays has attracted attention, will lecture on radio activity and X-rays on Thursday evening, March 31, in the large lecture room of the Jefferson Physical Laboratory at 8 P. M.
This will be the first of a series of three lectures open to the public which the Department of Physics is to offer this spring on topics of current interest.
Professor Duane has for many years been engaged in research on the subject of X-rays not only from a purely theoretical point of view, but also from the point of view of their application for the treatment of cancer. The extremely penetrating X-rays which he has recently discovered how to obtain, are shortly to be applied to the alleviation of cancer by the Harvard Cancer commission.
