Olivar Calls Elis Physically Ready

By John A. Rava

NEW HAVEN, Nov. 15--Yale's football team, plagued by injuries before the last two Harvard games, "is in good shape this time," Eli coach Jordan Olivar asserted today.

By "good", however, Olivar did not mean perfect; he still remains without the services of two key linemen out with bad knees, while the play of the second string quarterback is doubtful. Both Pete Fritzsche and Tom Jones, second team left guard and right tackle, respectively, will "definitely not see action." Quarter- back Dick Winterbauer's condition will not be known until Thursday, Olivar said.

Crimson A Puzzle For Olivar

"I don't know what to think of Harvard," Olivar said in reply to his opinion of Saturday's opponents. "At the beginning of the year I thought that Princeton would be best, with Harvard and Cornell next. . . . They have really the same personnel that beat us last year. . . . I was astounded to hear that they lost to Brown."

The Yale coach placed part of the blame for Harvard's mediocre performance on the Crimson's vaunted forward wall. "Although the line has done fine defensively, it has not shown what it was expected to offensively," the coach explained.

Olivar Discounts Weather

Asked what he expected in case Harvard fullback Tony Gianelly did not play, Olivar mentioned that perhaps tailback Jim Joslin, who played the best game of his career to best Yale last year, would be shifted to fullback, still leaving two good tailbacks.

Weather factors, seemingly influential in two Crimson victories on a muddy turf so far this year, were completely discounted by Olivar. Yale has also scored two convincing wins in the rain and mud, he explained.
