Zivkovic, Heir to Marion, To Coach Fencing Squads

Ben Zivkovic, a former Olympic fencer for Yugoslavia, will succeed retiring Edo Marion as head coach of fencing at Harvard, athletic director Robert B. Watson announced yesterday.

The new Crimson mentor comes to Harvard after three years as head coach at Fairfield University. Previously he served eight years as freshman coach at Columbia. While leading the Lions, he was also an instructor at several fencing clubs in the New York area.

Watson announced that Zivkovic, along with his duties as men's coach, will also take charge of the Radcliffe varsity fencing program and the fencing activities of the University's recreation program.

Edo Marion, who has served as Harvard's head coach for 24 years, will retire this June. Marion compiled an overall record of 173-129 while guiding the Crimson to several top ten finishes in NCAA competition. He also produced a number of All-Americans during his tenure.
