Would've, Could've, Should've: Lost Daylight Savings Time Hour Edition

Design by Mirika J. Jambudi

Life is full of what if’s – what if I didn't concentrate in Econ and actually studied something I like, what if I never took my first sip of Celsius, what if… Here at Flyby, we've been ruminating too. And on this coming Monday (wake up, my one-extra-hour sleep-deprived friend!), we'll be thinking about what we could’ve done with that lost Daylight Savings hour. And turns out, there's a lot. Read on to see all the possibilities!

Do a stretch routine and discover just how many muscles and tendons you haven’t been using for the past year.

Eat breakfast instead of just waiting for lunch. The scrambled eggs and hash browns that you haven’t eaten since your time dining at Berg are calling your name…

Do your laundry (and retrieve it on time).

Actually read what people are sending on the House email lists.

Finally figure out how Crimson Print works.

Knock out one of the who-knows-how-many recorded lectures you’ve “planned on watching.”

Go to office hours and ask a question other than “did I answer this p-set question right?”

Cross-reference the college Facebook and the Canvas “People” tab to find out the name of the person you’ve been sitting next to during lecture for the past month.

Open your readings. You know the ones.

Call your parents. They miss you. You miss them. Or that floppy-eared golden retriever of yours, at least. We think a FaceTime is long overdue.

Go on a hunt for Remy (your excuse to explore the music building!)

Bake! What’s the point of liking all those TikTok recipes if you’re never going to make them? Just try not to set off the fire alarm.

Unghost (your ex, situationship, roommate, you get the idea). Realistically, this won’t even take you an hour. It probably takes you longer to jog your memory of what your conversation was about than actually replying.

Open that slew of reels, hand-picked with love by your roommate (and you’ll probably be glad you did).

All that being said, time only ever passes in one direction, and complaining doesn’t turn the clock back around. So, enjoy the extra sunlight, and maybe consider our list as one about what you can do instead of what you could’ve done.
