Women’s fencing continues hot streak, routs Ivy rival Cornell 21-6 at Wellesley

By The Crimson Staff, Crimson Staff Writer

The No. 4 Harvard women’s fencing team knocked off Cornell 21-6 Saturday at Wellesley. Despite a 4-5 defeat in the epee, the Crimson’s strength in the foil and saber squads helped Harvard to a victory over the Big Red.

The foil team, led by junior co-captains Chloe Stinetorf and Anne Austin, topped Cornell 9-0, while the saber squad won 8-1 behind the fencing of its freshmen Carolyn Wright, Samantha Parker and Alexa Weingarden.

The Big Red is the second Ivy rival to fall victim to the Crimson’s championship campaign this season. Currently the highest-ranked Ivy team in the country, Harvard topped longtime foe Columbia in November, and will face defending Ivy champion Penn this weekend.
