Thomas Blake ’98, former captain of the Crimson, won the Alex Howard Invitational Tournament Monday with a 6-4, 6-4 win over pro Trevor Spracklin.
Blake was the second seed to Spracklin’s first, but after watching little brother James make the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open last week, Thomas stormed into Cambridge and swept his way through the tournament.
He beat Harvard freshman Sasha Ermakov 6-4, 6-1 in their semifinal match, while Spracklin advanced to the final with a win over Crimson junior Scott Denenberg.
Both Blake brothers were All-Americans during their time at Harvard—Thomas graduated in 1998, and James left in 1999, after his sophomore year, to go pro.
