At Lynah, Cornell scores two goals 2:36 apart to shock Harvard

ITHACA, N.Y.—Just minutes from apparent victory, things fell apart for the Harvard men’s hockey team, as No. 11 Cornell took a 3-2 victory at Lynah Rink on Friday night.

The Crimson (1-4, 0-4 ECAC) played solid defense for most of the game to hold the Big Red (5-0, 3-0) to just 18 shots on the night.

Both teams scored early in the first—Cornell with an extra attacker due to a delayed Harvard penalty, and the Crimson on the power play.

Neither team would light the lamp again until the third frame, when senior forward Kevin Du slammed home a cross-ice pass from rookie blueliner Chad Morin for a man-advantage score at 10:28 of the third period.

Nevertheless, Harvard’s 2-1 lead was short-lived. The Big Red scored goals at 15:51 and 18:27 to move ahead, 3-2, and keep the Crimson winless in league play.
