Junior Michael Del Mauro and classmate Chris Huxley have been named Harvard men's hockey captains for next season.
Last weekend at its awards banquet at the Harvard Club of Boston, the Harvard men's hockey team named juniors Michael Del Mauro and Chris Huxley as its 117th and 118th captains. Classmate Kyle Richter was designated as assistant captain.
In the 111-year history of Crimson hockey, only four pairs of co-captains had been named prior to Del Mauro and Huxley.
Although the winter season ended barely a month ago, spring sports are already beginning to crown their champions, continuing this weekend with the Ivy League Championship for men’s golf.
The tournament is entirely up for grabs. Over the course of the spring, the Ivies have battled one another, and the results have been scrambled from week to week. For its own part, Harvard has shown consistent play, earning top-three finishes in each of its contests this month, but has yet to claim a tournament title.
As a native Masshole, I’ve always known that the third Monday of April brings a state holiday—not the start of school vacation, not Patriots’ Day, but Marathon Monday. I’ve grown up watching the race from both near (the streets of Boston) and far (my television). I know my Heartbreak Hill from my Hopkinton (which, by the way, is a mere four miles from my front door). But after 21 years of watching the marathon, this year, I finally ran (part of) it.

A boat’s name can endow the shell with special meaning and be a unifying force among its oarsmen. In my time as a rower, I have seen a variety of boat names painted across bow decks. Some names have resounded with qualities that are intrinsic to any successful crew, such as “Persistence” or “Resilience,” while others have left me staring blankly, or even worse, fighting a fit of laughter.
This past Saturday, the Harvard men’s heavyweight varsity dedicated its sleek, yellow Empacher eight to Olympic gold medalist and former Crimson rower, Malcolm Howard ’05. There is no question what the name of this boat will represent to those who sit in its seats.

Radcliffe rugby had a score to settle this weekend after being left out of the national tournament, and when the dust settled, the scoreboard at the Beast of the East 2010 Tournament spoke loud and clear.
No. 7 Radcliffe steamrolled its opponents in the two-day tournament over the weekend, winning four-straight matches without yielding a single point en route to a convincing victory in Portsmouth, R.I.
With a cumulative margin of victory of 102-0 against Stony Brook, George Washington, Bryant, and Marist, “Rad Rugby” continued to stake its claim as one of the nation’s top squads.
