Women’s Hockey Comes Up Short at the Beanpot

​Looking to put its ECAC struggles behind, the Harvard women’s hockey team faced off against Beantown rival and host Northeastern in the first round of the 2017 Women’s Beanpot. For the second consecutive year, however, the Crimson was unable to advance to the Boston tournament’s championship match.

Women's Basketball Stays Undefeated in Conference Against Cornell

On Friday night, moments after the end of a contest between Harvard women’s basketball and Cornell, Crimson coach Kathy Delaney-Smith exhaled audibly. Her Harvard team, winners of 14 straight before Friday, had entered with a perfect conference record. Over the last forty minutes, the visiting Big Red had done everything to blemish that mark.


No. 1 Women's Squash Rolls Over Tufts

Previously undefeated No. 18 Tufts was outmatched by the reigning national champions, ending the Jumbo’s best opening run in past 15 years.


Men's Tennis Posts Strong Results Against BYU, Tennessee, and Bryant

​This past weekend, the Harvard men’s tennis team took on Brigham Young University, Tennessee, and Bryant on its home turf at the Murr Center Tennis Courts. The Crimson came out with two wins and one loss, boosting its overall record to 4-2.

HAMILTON, N.Y. — On Saturday, the Crimson did all its damage in the first period rather than the third, striking three times in the opening 20 minutes and cruising for the ensuing 40 in a 3-1 victory over Colgate at the brand new Class of 1975 Rink.

ITHACA, N.Y. — After trailing by a goal heading into the third period Friday night, No. 9 Harvard silenced the Lynah Faithful with four final-frame goals to pick up its second win over No. 14 Cornell this season.


Second Half Dramatics Push Men's Basketball Past Cornell, 77-71

With eight seconds on the clock Aiken pulled up and drained the two—and much like it had a year earlier, Harvard came away with the late win in another nailbiter in Ithaca off the hands of a freshman point guard. Last time, it was a 76-74 win off a jumper from then-freshman point guard Tommy McCarthy. This time, Aiken’s jumper sent Harvard home with a 77-71 victory.


Men's, Women's Fencing Commence Spring Season at St. John's Invitational

With both squads entering the day ranked seventh in the country, the Crimson men’s side (5-5) suffered close defeats and finished with a 1-4 match record against other top collegiate fencing programs, while the Harvard women (5-6) ended their day with a 2-3 match record.


Women's Squash Remains Undefeated After Victory at Stanford

Despite the strong start, the Crimson did not allow itself to let up against its foe from the West Coast. The two dropped sets by No. 7 Sophie Mehta and No. 9 MacGowan both went into tiebreakers. Other than those blemishes, Harvard came up with a thorough victory, up and down the lineup card.

No. 21 Harvard easily dispatched Boston College, 179-112, at Blodgett Pool on Saturday to keep its undefeated streak alive, snapping the Eagles’ (10-3) run of eight consecutive wins.

McGill Proves to be No Match for Men's Basketball

After shooting 35 percent from the field and going 0-of-6 from deep in that first frame, the Crimson (8-5, 1-0 Ivy League) began the second period on a 13-3 run, building a lead they wouldn’t give up en route to a 70-45 win over McGill (12-8) at Lavietes Pavilion on Tuesday.
