With the annual Heptagonal Championship only four days away, Sunday’s USATF New England Championships at Harvard’s Gordon Indoor Track provided a perfect opportunity for members of the Crimson’s track and field teams to get one more race under their belt.
Men’s and Women’s Squads Place Second at HYP
Just a week after sweeping both the men’s and women’s track and field competition at the Battle of Beantown, both Harvard track teams were left playing second fiddle to home team and Ivy League rival Princeton this Saturday at the annual HYP Meet.

Junior co-captain Thea Lee and the Harvard track team, shown here in earlier action, came up short at HYP this weekend, as both the men’s and women’s squads placed second to Princeton but defeated Yale. Harvard coach Jason Saretsky showed optimism though, given that a number of young athletes posted strong showings over the weekend, earning wins in many events.

The Crimson track and field team will face Yale and Princeton tomorrow at the HYP Meet. Last weekend, the Harvard men and women captured the overall victory at the Battle of Beantown. At that meet, co-captain Jack Brady took first place in the shot put and freshman Carlyle Davis won the 500-meter run. The women’s team also finished first in the 4x400 relay.

After winning the Battle of Beantown last weekend, the Harvard men’s and women’s track and field teams look to continue their success as they take on Yale and Princeton tomorrow.
Men and Women Earn Battle of Beantown Titles
Last Saturday at Gordon Indoor Track, both the men and women’s squads finished ahead of local rivals Boston College, Boston University and Northeastern, taking home not one but two Beanpot trophies.

Sophomore Darcy Wilson and a number of standout Crimson performers helped Harvard win its second-consecutive title at the Battle of Beantown. Wilson, who finished second in the 800, was one of three Crimson sophomores to qualify for IC4As, joining classmates Steven Geloneck and John Dingus.
