Overheards on Fall 2026 FDOC
Another FDOC bites the dust. From having to pretend Wednesday was a Monday to fighting everyone and their mothers for a photo on Widener steps, we all pulled up and showed out yesterday. Probably too many of us, if we’re being honest. But in the midst of all the commotion and first-day-of-class jitters, we had our gossiping listening ears at the ready, making a mental note of all the Sidechat-worthy quotes you all said. Reader discretion is advised.
“I’m going to steal from this university like they’re prying As out of my cold dead hands” — a student grabbing multiple fruit cups and muffins from Widener steps.
“Is that class a gem?” “Gems don’t exist anymore” — unfortunately, we relate a bit too hard to this.
“Is that what you’re wearing for FDOC pics? Ugh you’re the worst—now I have to change.” — They were wearing the same white maxi skirt. #basic
“Meet me for bing bong.” “Who is bing bong?” — We would like to know this too.
Senior arriving at 8:47 a.m. for a 9 a.m. class that meets every single day: “this is the earliest you’ll ever see me here.” — Honestly, real.
“So I unblocked him this summer…” “AGAIN?? FOR THE THIRD TIME??” — self-explanatory, though we’d love to know the tea.
“Sometimes I worry about you…” — Yeah, we do too.
Accidentally got into an elevator going down instead of up: “well, the good part about hitting rock bottom is that the only way is up.” — a tired senior to a pair of bushy-eyed sophomores in the elevator.
“I’m not worried about us staying in touch post-grad. We’re really good friends because we have the same toxic attachment style.” — Now that’s one way to build a lasting friendship, but we’re in support!
“If you do the readings, then I can give you the gossip on what ACTUALLY happened.” — Professor to his class.
“It’s our last first day of classes…” “There’s still spring though.” — One senior in denial to another.
Best of luck with classes, everyone, and we hope this is the best semester yet!
