Barista Nicholas S. Longenbaugh '14 prepares a drink using the cafe's made-in-Italy espresso machine, one of the many things that he learned to do during an extensive barista training.
After a successful spring preview last semester and with its logo laminated on windows and printed on cups, the cafe has become a permanent addition to Cabot.
The cafe features baked goods, including multiple flavors of pies, from the Cambridge local business, Petsi Pies.
The menu also boasts a large selection of loose-leaf teas from Barismo and Mem Teas, including one signature flavor called "Crimson Berry."
Over the course of the year, the walls of the cafe will feature rotating galleries of student art, including paintings, drawings, and photographs.
Cabot Housemaster Stephanie R. Khurana chats with students as they check out the new social space that the cafe offers.
Cabot Resident Dean Jill Constantino smiles at her son, Sol, as he declares his hot chocolate "too hot to drink."
David G. Su '14 orders a drink from barista Anna M. Menzel '15, one of the few freshmen selected to work at the quad-based cafe.
The scent of freshly ground coffee permeated the air as students and faculty chatted and baristas called out names written on the sides of just-made drinks at the grand opening of Cabot Cafe last night. If you haven't already heard of it, we don't know what you've been doing for the past few weeks, but take a break from your studies and allow us to introduce you.
Located in the basement of Cabot House's E-entryway, Cabot Cafe has transformed what used to be an underused common space into a hangout location for freshmen, upperclassmen, Riverites, Quadlings, graduates, faculty, and staff alike, as they all gathered at the Cafe for its grand opening last night. The Cafe offers loose-leaf teas, freshly-ground coffees, and baked goods—all of which can be purchased with Board Plus—as well as a relaxed atmosphere for students to study, chat, or just relax. We've already told you about the cafe here, here, and here, but if you're still not convinced that it's worth the trek to the Quad, check out the pictures above to see for yourself what the new space has to offer.
