Currier
On Housing Day, Delight, Disappointment, and a Kitchen Mishap
Hundreds of upperclassmen gathered in Harvard Yard to partake in the annual Housing Day ritual of welcoming freshmen to their new upperclassmen Houses.
Housing Day Goes Tumblr
In the pre-Housing Day flurry, several Houses have begun rolling out promotional tumblr blogs. Cabot House's tumblr features its mascot, the Cabot Fish, planking in front of various Harvard hotspots such as the steps of Memorial Church, the doorway of The Crimson, and even the Sanders stage before an Ec 10 lecture. Lowell, too, launched a tumblr, which rides on the coattails of the Harvard meme trend with images featuring captions like: "Significant other got quadded / Long distance relationship."
Currier House
Currier House, named after Radcliffe College alumna Audrey Bruce Currier '56, might be less quaint and historic than the brick buildings of the other two Quad Houses, but its four residence towers still aren't quite as ugly as Mather's. Architectural jokes aside, the House's tree-loving residents are more than happy to boast of their great housing and tight-knit community, and most admit they don't have much to complain about. The one thing holding the House back might be its location in the widely feared Quad, but residents insist that the distance is worth its other countless perks, as "the shuttle beats walking anyway." Perhaps one student's responses to poll questions describes Currierites' attitudes toward their House best: "What are the best things about living here?" we asked. "Everything. It's Currier," came an answer. And the worst? "Nothing. It's Currier."
Mockery, Spoofs, and Remakes: A Housing Video Roundup
With Housing Day under a week away, eight new videos to advertise the upperclass Houses have been released. As always, there is a healthy amount of inter-house teasing. Here's our recap.
Across Campus, Students Cheer and Bemoan Giants' Win
As two rivals butted heads in a championship rematch, football devotees and neophytes, Giants fans and Patriots die-hards gathered across campus to bear witness to the unfolding of Super Bowl XLVI—an event which ultimately left Giants supporters and Patriots detractors triumphant while Pats fans were disappointed yet again.
Out of Africa, Back to the Quad
Animals as gifts aren’t new to Currier House Masters Richard W. Wrangham and Elizabeth A. Ross, but though they appreciate the sentiment, they don’t quite know what to do with them.

Alan Khazei, Democratic Senate candidate, holds an informal talk in Currier about his time as a student in Currier House, his political philosophy, and his social entrepreneurship. Khazei recollected about his time at Harvard that "the great thing about the Quad is that you have a sense of community here."
Puppets Go Wild in Currier
In the trailer for its upcoming production, The Currier House Drama Society warns audiences that the show is "RATED R for political incorrectness, full puppet nudity, and schadenfreude."
