Law School Activists Demand End to Tuition

​In the most recent wave of activism at the Law School, some students are calling on the school to eliminate tuition completely as part of their new campaign for financial justice.

​On a day when workers and students took to the streets across the country to rally for minimum wage reform, over 200 Harvard affiliates gathered in front of Massachusetts Hall to push for higher wages and increased health benefits for Harvard’s dining services employees.

Harvard Affiliates Protest at Tufts for ‘Pharma Fools Day’

Students from the College and Harvard Medical School joined medical students from Tufts University and members of activist groups to stage a die-in Friday in front of the Tufts Center for the Study of Drug Development, claiming a recent study from a professor there is biased.

Law School Activists to Continue Occupation

​Three weeks into their occupation of the lounge in the Law School’s Caspersen Student Center, student activists said they will remain in the hall, despite some concerns raised by other students and administrators.

Food is set out for student activists occupying the Law School’s Caspersen Student Center lounge as part of the Reclaim Harvard Law protests. The activists have now occupied the lounge, which they have dubbed “Belinda Hall”, for three weeks and plan to continue the occupation for the foreseeable future.

Pillows, blankets, and suitcases cover the floor in the Law School’s Caspersen Student Center lounge so student activists can continue to occupy the space as part of the Reclaim Harvard Law protests. The protest took on the form of a fake rally for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and took place outside of a Harvard Club event held at the Harvard Business School Tuesday evening.


Demonstrations at Visit of Rwandan President Kagame

Protesters demonstrate at a speech by Rwandan President Paul Kagame at the IOP on Friday. The protesters’ chants included “Kagame is a killer” and ”murderer,” as the president spoke about Rwandan development and a referendum that could extend his term until 2034.

A group of five Harvard Law and roughly 15 to 20 Brandeis protesters stood at the back of the Brandeis library where Minow delivered her acceptance speech, holding signs and interjecting with a chant.

Students and workers line the edges of Adams’ Junior Common Room to protest in support of HUDS workers health care benefits. There was a high turnout at the event, which featured leaders from several Harvard college and graduate student groups.

Local protesters displayed support for Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union president Kanhaiya Kumar, who was arrested on charges of sedition on February 12. The “Stand With JNU” movement has garnered global attention as hundreds of students and educators in New Delhi recently launched their movement onto social media.

Law School Activists Occupy Student Center

Student activists began to occupy a portion of Harvard Law School's Caspersen Student Center Monday evening in an effort to create a space on campus they say has been denied to minorities at the school. Calling the lounge “Belinda Hall” after a former slave of prominent Law School benefactors, the group of activists led by Reclaim Harvard Law said they plan to remain there indefinitely.
