When Andy Patel, owner of the news vendor located in the historic Out of Town News kiosk in Harvard Square, placed copies of The Crimson on his racks on Wednesday, he was shocked to read the front page. His fellow Square business owners, he read, want to tear down his establishment and replace it with an information stand with interactive glass walls.
Business Owners Draft Construction Plan To Model Harvard Square on Times Square
The Harvard Square Business Association has drafted a plan that proposes replacing Harvard Square’s iconic Out of Town News kiosk with an interactive information center and adding stadium seating and an approximately 23-foot-wide LED screen to the Pit.

To refresh your memory, if you're keeping kosher for Passover, you're supposed to avoid foods, except matzo, made with wheat, barley, rye, spelt, or oats. Depending on whether you're Ashkenazi or Sephardic, you may have different rules, so ask your Rabbi or Hillel if you have any concerns. Meanwhile, these foods should keep you pretty full for the next week.

April 2, 1929: Historic Engine Makes Debut in Square Today At exactly five minutes past one today a fire engine of the Cambridge Catamounts, historic New England fire-fighting aggregation, drawn by six "Fire B'hoys" will make its appearance on Harvard Square. The engine, the one to be used by the Hasty Pudding Club for its production "Fireman, Save my Child," will start from an unrevealed place on Church Street and go up to the Square.

Romeo, dressed as a slider, receives a treat from his owner, Christy Kerins, at the B. Good vs. Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream Truck Battle on Dunster St. Thursday afternoon. At the annual event, members of the B. Good Burger Brigade collected donations for Back on My Feet, an organization that aids the homeless.
Scuffle Outside J.P. Licks Caused Broken Window
If you're one of the many people who walk by J.P. Licks on a daily basis, you may have noticed something different these past few days: one of the store's windows, until Monday, was boarded up. The window was shattered when a scuffle between two unidentified groups on Mass. Ave. resulted in one male being pushed into the window and breaking it at approximately 12:45 a.m. on Saturday morning, according to the police report.
