Coop

Harvard Today: Sept. 11, 2013

Warm weather returns to Cambridge today, so this may be a good opportunity to catch an outdoor soccer game before it gets chilly. Also on the calendar is an IOP panel on Syria with a rockstar lineup of speakers, the SEO Job Fair, and a book talk that might come in handy if you're planning on raising children any time soon. Happy hump day, Harvard!

Alexandra Hamlet, a defense anthropologist, a former journalist, and the author of "The Right Guard" gives a talk during her signing event at the Coop on Tuesday. "Many crises is caused by perception," she said while sharing her views on modern journalism, nature of conflicts and national defense.

As Madeline Miller prepares for her book reading and signing at the Harvard Coop, she worries that nothing could be a spoiler for a 3,000 year story. She wrote "The Song of Achilles" for the layman but added Easter Eggs for classicists.

Lincoln Letter

William Martin '72 gives a reading at the Harvard COOP from his latest novel, The Lincoln Letters. Martin is the author of ten novels and is a recent recipient of the New England Book Award.

God, Via Javerbaum, Visits the Coop

David A. Javerbaum '93, former executive producer of Comedy Central's "The Daily Show," spoke at the Coop today in promotion of his latest book, "The Last Testament: A Memoir By God."

The Harvard Square COOP offers a convenient—though sometimes considered expensive—option for Harvard students looking to buy textbooks, coursepacks, school supplies, and even dorm furniture.

Students Vie For Coop Board Positions

When Harvard students walk into the Coop, their main concern tends to be the price of textbooks, but some students have taken a greater interest in the bookstore. Ten Harvard students are currently running to join the 34-member board of the Harvard Cooperative Society. Although the Board can't lower the price of books, many of the candidates hope to open the lines of communication between the Coop and the student body.
