Vi Hart Dazzles Pfoho with Balloon Polyhedrons

Vi Hart, recreational mathemusician perhaps best known for her videos about doodling in math class, is in residence in Pforzheimer House this week. Last night, she held a workshop where Pforzheimer and College affiliates—including this Flyby correspondent—learned to make polyhedrons and other mathematical objects using balloons.


Rush Figures Set New Record

Two hundred and sixty eight women rushed Harvard’s three sororities this year, representing the largest rush class in the University’s history, according to sorority leaders.

The Harvard Outing Club led a week-long trip to their cabin in New Hampshire. During the day, students participated in winter activities like hiking, snowshoeing, and sledding.


Harvard's Listening Club

Shhh… can you hear it? It's Harvard's latest student organization, the Listening Club. Harvard administrators who like to say that there is a club for every interest at Harvard can take comfort with the decision by Beverly D. Boos, a student at the Harvard Extension School, to found the Listening Club, an organization that will train its members in listening skills. It will hold its first meeting at the end of January.


NBC’s Jeff Zucker Pays Homage to O’Brien Rivalry

As the illustrious career of Jeffrey A. Zucker '86, CEO of NBC Universal, nears an end, it appears that one "healthy rivalry" will still remain. Reminiscing about his life at Harvard as President of The Harvard Crimson, Zucker spoke of his days teasing fellow student Conan O’Brien '85, a past President of the Harvard Lampoon, a semi-secret Sorrento Square social organization that used to occasionally publish a so-called humor magazine.

UC Candidates Compete For Student Group Endorsements

With voting for the leadership of the Undergraduate Council opening today, Student Life Committee Chair Senan Ebrahim ’12 and his running mate Bonnie Cao ’12, the current UC Secretary, have pulled ahead in the race for student group endorsements. A total of 16 groups had given the Ebrahim-Cao campaign their stamp of approval as of yesterday.


CSA Hosts Iron Chef Competition

The Harvard-Radcliffe Chinese Student Association Iron Chef competition began, unexpectedly, with an original rap to the instrumental of “Like a G6” delivered by Joshua C. Zhang ’14 and Eric Lu ’14. The rap set the stage for the irreverent tone of the evening, established the rules of the competition, and announced the prize: a $30 gift card to Finale.
