But philanthropy can include everything from the promotion of American art to support for education, said panelists at the John F. Kennedy Jr. Forum at the Institute of Politics on Thursday.

U.S. Senator Scott Brown's campaign for reelection brought in roughly $5 million in political donations during the second quarter of 2012—nearly $1.6 million more than the Republican raised in the first quarter—his campaign announced Wednesday evening.

Raising Money for Rugby
The Harvard-Radcliffe Rugby Football Club bypassed traditional forms of fundraising by creating a method of raising money unique to their athleticism: moving. Calling themselves "Radcliffe Movers," members of the Women's Rugby team will work in groups of two and three people to assist students as they move boxes and furniture out of their dorms and into house storage facilities. "We get off-season lifting workouts, you get your stuff moved," reads the tagline on the Radcliffe Movers sign-up form.
Swim Across America Raises $55k
Swimmers from across the Boston area competed on Saturday to raise money for cancer research, at a Swim Across America fundraising event at Blodgett Pool.
Pie Cancer in the Face
The Harvard College Democrats set up a booth outside the Science Center on Wednesday where members of the Harvard community and passersby could throw pies in volunteer's faces. Throwers were asked to donate $3 in support of Relay for Life which is taking place this weekend. Watch the video to learn more!

Massachusetts Congressional candidate Sean Bielat raised roughly $175,000 in the first quarter of 2012, according to a campaign spokesperson. The numbers, while still an estimate, push the Fourth District Republican contender over the $200,000 mark with the election still seven months away.

Fundraising Through Henna
Margot Leger '13 is a runner, a lover of words, and a creative fundraiser. This April she is combining two things that most of us have probably only ever considered doing—running a marathon and getting a henna tattoo. Leger, fundraising in support of the American Medical Athletic Association (AMAA), is asking friends and family to donate words, at five dollars apiece, that she will henna onto her body before she runs the distance.

Warren and Brown Form Truce on Super-PAC Spending
