Harvard police arrested a man for trespassing in the Smith Campus Center Thursday morning after a physical altercation, drawing criticism from some eyewitnesses.
Excitement peaked at the Smith Campus Center on Monday afternoon as Harvard affiliates celebrated the grand opening of the Center’s newest restaurant, The Heights. Located on the top floor of the Smith Center, The Heights allows Harvard ID-holder and their guests to dine while admiring sweeping views of Cambridge and Boston.
While the Smith Campus Center has given many a new place to seek refuge from the Cambridge winter, repeated instances of homeless individuals violating the building’s no sleeping policy has drawn Harvard police forces to help security guards address the incidents.

“This is a dream come true,” said former University President Drew G. Faust, who helped oversee the project during her 11-year tenure, which ended in July.
