Lingane Appointed as Chemistry Professor

James J. Lingana, associate professor of Chemistry, has been appointed Professor of Chemistry, effective July 1, Provost Buck announced yesterday.

A graduate of the University of Minnesota, Lingane is a leading authority in polarographic analysis, an electrical method of chemical analysis, and has published numerous articles on analytical chemistry. A member of the American Chemical Society and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, he was co-author of "Polarography," published in 1941.
