Kissinger and Tho Joke About Future

A lighthearted conversation between Henry A. Kissinger '50 and North Vietnam's Le Duc Tho reported in this week's Time Magazine has raised the possibility that Tho may come to Harvard as a visiting professor on Marxism after the Paris peace talks conclude.

Kissinger reportedly agreed to arrange for Tho's visiting professorship if he in turn could teach a political science course in Hanoi.

Don K. Price Jr., a professor of Government and dean of the John F. Kennedy School of Government said yesterday that he thought it was a "swell joke" but that additional standards would be necessary if Harvard were to seriously consider The as a visiting professor.

"I see no problem about having a visiting professor of Maraism, but I don't know anything about Le Duc Tho's intelletcual competence, or his ability to teach or to speak English," Price said.

"He could create a real circus," Price added, but he said this was not sufficient reason for living Tho.
