Freshmen Lobbers Romp

Trounce Curry, 9-0

The Harvard freshmen tennis team, playing on the indoor Palmer-Dixon Courts to avoid the snow, opened its 1974 season in impressive fashion yesterday with a 9-0 victory over Curry College.

"Because the match was held inside, there were only enough courts for two matches to be played at one time, so to speed things up we played ten-game presets instead of the usual two out of three six-game sets," Coach Corey Wynn said yesterday.

Wynn said he was pleased with the team's performance and added, "We're potentially a very good strong team. This is a promising group." Cliff Adler, playing in the number one singles slot, romped, 10-3. Dan Waldman, number two singles, swept to a 10-1 victory, while Bill Kaplan, number three, triumphed 10-5. The other victors in singles play were Karl Kravitz, Bill Wallace, and Warren Ludwig.
