LIVE UPDATES: Pro-Palestine Protesters Begin Encampment in Harvard Yard
A man was assaulted and robbed in Harvard Yard late Saturday night as he was walking outside Canaday Hall, according to Harvard University police officials.
Police said the victim was intoxicated at the time of the attack. The man, who was not a student at the College, asked police officials not to release his name to the press, according to Harvard Police Chief Paul E. Johnson.
A young white male allegedly attacked the man, hitting him on the back of the head with a lead pipe and stealing his gold chain, according to the police report.
The attacker then fled up Peabody Avenue toward Mass. Ave., and has not yet been apprehended, the report said.
Police and ambulances found the victim on the ground at approximately 2 a.m. "with no blood showing," according to the police report.
The victim refused any assistance and signed a release, Johnson said.
