The Harvard track and field team saw some of its best performances of the season this past weekend, including stellar times in the women’s elite-division 800-meter and in the men’s 4x400-meter relay.

In the women’s 800-meter, junior Sophia Gorriaran ran a 2:01.30, just short of her career-best time but still quick enough to be the fastest 800-meter time by a female NCAA athlete this season. Her time is currently more than a second faster than the next best time on the leaderboard.

In the men’s 4x400-meter relay, the quartet of freshman Arpad Kovacs, sophomore Hudson Allain, junior Amari Turner, and senior Justin Levy posted a time of 3:11.71, winning the event and posting the sixth-best time in program history.

Turner also participated in the men’s 60-meter event, placing fifth with a 6.90. In the same event, senior Jonas Clarke placed second with a 6.80, finishing just behind junior Timi Esan, who won the event with a 6.79 and is currently Harvard’s record holder.

On the women’s side in the 60-meter hurdles, senior Fabiola Belibi — the reigning Ivy champion in the event — took home first place with an 8.44 in the final.

In his collegiate debut, Kovacs also ran a 47.74 in the men’s 400-meter, winning the race and placing him in the top 50 of all Division I runners this season.

Winning his first collegiate event, freshman Preston Ellis ran a 1:55.35 in the men’s 800-meter to add to the tally of first-place Harvard finishes during the weekend.

In the men’s 200-meter, it again was Turner who shined, posting a 21.56 to claim second in the event, while Esan and Clarke finished in sixth and seventh place, respectively.

On the women’s side of the 200-meter, sophomore Ella Cooper ran a 24.25 to finish second.

Out in the throws, Crimson athletes posted multiple top-five distances, including freshman Daniel Ye, who threw a personal-best 18.07 meters in the men’s weight throw to finish first in the event.

In the women’s weight throw, junior captain Alice Mihas also had a personal-best, with her 17.17 meter throw putting her in third place as well as 10th all-time in program history.

In the shot put, junior Isaac Delaney threw 16.54 meters in the men’s division to place third, while sophomore Tyler Glover’s 14.09 meters placed her fifth on the women’s side.

Overall, Harvard athletes finished the weekend with 25 top-five finishes, showcasing a plethora of talent that is in place to perform well both in the Ivy League and in wider Division I.

Next up, the Crimson returns home this weekend to host the Harvard Invitational.
