One Injured in North Cambridge Shooting
One person was injured in a shooting near Russell Field on Tuesday afternoon, the Cambridge Police Department wrote in an emergency alert.
Cambridge police responded to reports of gunfire in Alewife at 3:20 p.m., according to the alert, finding one person with injuries upon arrival. The person was transported to a local hospital, and CPD did not detail their condition.
The shooting remains under investigation, and CPD did not say whether a suspect was in custody.
The alert, sent just after 4 p.m., went to residents in North and West Cambridge, including the Porter Square Business Association. As of 4:30 p.m., CPD had not released further detail.

Cambridge Emergency Communications received multiple calls about the shooting, the alert read.
Tuesday’s shooting is the fifth in Cambridge this year, including two fatal shootings. Cambridge Public Works employee Xavier Bautista, 32, was fatally shot by a group of masked men on July 4, and William Woodworth, 64, was shot and killed by Cambridge police officers during an August confrontation.
