Over the weekend, Harvard track and field traveled across the country to compete at the Pepsi Florida Relays, the Texas Relays, and the UConn Dogfight Invite. Across these three meets, the Crimson compiled five podium finishes and earned a plethora of spots on Harvard’s all-time outdoor performance lists.

At the Texas Relays, the women’s field squad collected four of the Crimson’s five podium finishes of the weekend. In the university section A of the women’s discus throw, junior Milina Wipiwe earned second place with an outstanding throw of 53.92 meters. Also competing in the event were sophomore Tyler Glover, who threw 44.81 meters, and freshman Nadejla Weipwe, who threw 42.14 meters. Senior Michaela Denson threw herself into a third-place finish in the general women’s discus event with a throw of 48.54 meters.

Glover then doubled back from the discus throw and took on Section A of the shot put. The sophomore hurled the four-kilogram ball 14.29 meters and took home ninth place in the event. Junior captain Alice Mihas rounded out the Crimson women’s throwers in Texas. In the hammer throw, she launched a throw for 53.65 meters, earning her a 17th-place overall finish.

Sophomore Ella McRitchie collected a third-place finish in the university elite division of pole vault. Her height of 4.20 meters pushed her into her second all-time record in the program for an outdoor performance in women’s pole vault. Junior Lily Hodge also excelled in the pole vault. Her 4.10-meter vault secured her third place in the general section and the third all-time in program history.

The men’s sprints group found success at the Texas Relays, too. Senior Timi Esan ran a wind-aided 10.15 in the 100-meter dash, which placed him tenth. The London native’s blistering race now places him 15th in the nation for the event. Captain Jonas Clarke also ran the 100-meter dash, sprinting to a 10.32 and into 24th place. In the 200-meter dash, junior Amari Turner ran a 21.10, nabbing 11th place and tying him for seventh all-time in the Harvard outdoor record book.

Both of the men’s relays had Texas-sized performances at the Texas Relays. The Crimson men’s 4x100-meter relay team blazed to a time of 39.42, which puts it third all-time in program history. The men’s 4x400-meter relay recorded a fifth-place finish with its speedy time of 3:07.55, which is the second all-time outdoor performance for Harvard.

The Crimson men’s hurdle squad had several solid performances in Austin, Texas. In the preliminary round of the 400-meter hurdles, freshman Oliver Parker ran a 51.40, which qualified him for the finals and gave him the eighth fastest outdoor time in Harvard history. In the finals, Parker ultimately earned seventh place with a 52.30. Seniors Ondrej Vesely and Michal Husek also ran 400-meter hurdles, earning 25th and 27th place, respectively. Junior Simon Weiser wrapped up the hurdle performances in Texas. The Prague native represented Harvard in the 110-meter hurdles, where he clocked a 14.37 for 28th place.

In his first outdoor high jump competition since winning a national championship, junior Tito Alofe soared to a height of 2.06 meters. Freshman Joachim Johnson was not far behind Alofe with his jump of 2.04 meters. Sophomore Phillip Andreas Kubon pole vaulted to a height of 4.90 meters and placed eighth. Junior Isaac Delaney rounded out the Harvard men’s field events and the Texas Relays. Delaney competed in the shot put and fired off a 17.10-meter throw, which was good enough for seventh in the event.

The women’s sprints squad continued its strong outdoor campaign at the Pepsi Florida Relays. The Harvard women’s 4x100-meter relay team sprinted to 44.52 during the preliminary round. Their preliminary time awarded them the third all-time spot in outdoor Crimson history. In the finals, the relay team ran 45.22 and earned eighth place. The 4x400-meter relay team bolted to a 12th-place finish with its time of 3:39.61.

Junior Mickaila Haisley blazed to an 11.54 finish in the 100-meter dash. Her time was enough for 18th place at the meet and second place in the outdoor record book. Haisley was joined in the 100-meter dash by sophomore Saige Forbes, who ran an 11.81 for 45th place.

Junior Marta Amani was Harvard’s lone field athlete at the Pepsi Florida Relays. Amani took part in the long jump, where she flew 6.18 meters for fifth place.

Sophomore Abby Dennis earned 27th in the 400-meter hurdles and was trailed by captain Jacklynn Okereke, who was 28th in the event. Their respective times of 1:00.27 and 1:00.32 put them ninth and tenth all-time in the Harvard outdoor record book. Dennis’ 13.82 in the 100-meter hurdles gave her 16th place at the meet.

Senior Justin Levy led the way for the Crimson at the UConn Dog Fight Invite. His 47.37 in the 400-meter netted him second place at the meet and the tenth-best Harvard outdoor performance in the event. Sophomore Brayden Chavez and freshman Preston Ellis accompanied Levy in the 400-meter, earning 23rd and 41st place, respectively. Chavez also competed in the 200-meter dash, where he notched a 34th-place finish with his time of 22.79.

Before his 400-meter race, Ellis started his day with a 42nd-place finish in the 1500-meter. Freshman Hudson McGough was the Crimson’s lone runner in the 800-meter. He sped to a 1:55.12 finish for 13th place in the discipline. Fellow rookie Robert Sacher participated in the long jump for Harvard, where he jumped 5.98 meters to secure a 27th-place finish.

Two freshman women also took part in the Dog Fight Invite. Leila Holland ran the 100-meter dash in 12.12, which was good enough to snag 16th, and sophomore Kaelin Creagh sprinted through the 200-meter dash in 24.96, which got her tenth place at the meet.
