Charges Dropped Against Former Harvard Student in Pforzheimer Indecent Exposure Case
A former Harvard student accused of repeatedly walking through a Pforzheimer House dormitory naked from the waist down had indecent exposure charges dismissed Monday after completing four months of pretrial probation.
Innocent K. Munai ’25 was charged with two counts of indecent exposure in May 2025 after the Harvard University Police Department received numerous reports of a partially nude man walking around the third floor of Comstock Hall.
In March, Munai agreed to continue therapy and commit no new criminal offenses for four months as conditions of pretrial probation, allowing him to avoid a criminal trial if he complied.
At a Monday hearing in Cambridge District Court, a judge found that Munai had complied with the terms of pretrial probation and dismissed the charges, ending the case more than a year after he was first charged.
Munai pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned in June 2025. After struggling to obtain a lawyer amid a three-month work stoppage by Massachusetts public defenders, he retained Harvard Law School professor Dehlia I. Umunna, a former public defender, in August.
Umunna did not respond to a request for comment. Munai also did not respond to repeated phone calls and emails requesting comment.
A Feb. 13, 2025, HUPD report described at least five instances in which Munai was reported to have walked through Comstock Hall while “exposing his genitalia to students/staff.” The earliest reported incident occurred in spring 2024, and reports continued through February 2025.
Both charges stemmed from a Feb. 1 incident in which Munai was reported to have walked through the third floor of Comstock Hall naked from the waist down, wearing only a T-shirt and carrying a towel over his shoulder. At the time, most of the floor’s residents were women.
A Pforzheimer resident tutor saw Munai and told him to “please put some pants on” before reporting the incident to HUPD. Two days later, Pforzheimer resident dean Monique A. Roy emailed residents of the floor where Munai was seen, warning them that the man “did not appear to be a resident of Pfoho.” Roy later sent a similar message to all Pforzheimer residents.

Investigators identified the man as Munai shortly after. By Feb. 7, HUPD had determined Munai would be charged for the incident and brought him in for an interview.
During the interview, Munai said he knew of the reports of a naked man in Pforzheimer but denied any involvement. HUPD then informed him that he would face criminal charges.
The Feb. 3 email was the last that House administrators sent about the incident.
At least four students separately informed House staff that they had seen Munai in Comstock. Pforzheimer administrators were made aware of the reports by December 2024, but the notification to the full residential community came more than seven weeks later.
Weeks after HUPD formally began investigating the incident, Pforzheimer installed keypad locks on the communal bathrooms on the second and third floors of Comstock. Codes to the locks were individually provided to students on the affected floors.
According to the police report, Munai did not appear to interact with students during the reported incidents and responded only when directly addressed by House staff members.
Munai lived in Comstock during the 2022-2023 academic year before moving off campus. He continued to have access to the building through his Harvard ID until at least February 2025.
Munai was a member of the Class of 2025 but is not listed as having earned a bachelor’s degree in the Harvard Alumni Directory.
