Dominant Harvard fencer Mitchell Saron ’23-’24, who was a three-season standout for the men’s fencing team, is set to compete for The United States at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

His participation at the games, which has yet to be announced by the US national team, is a testament to the hard work he put in during his post-graduate year. This will be his first time competing in the Olympic games.

Saron confirmed his selection to USA’s 2024 Olympic fencing team in response to a request for comment on Tuesday. USA Fencing did not deny Saron’s selection in a statement on Tuesday, writing that the organization is set to announce four names to its Olympic team Wednesday morning.

Saron’s tenure with the Crimson’s program was cut short due to the cancellation of the 2020-2021 season as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, but despite this setback, the fencer made the most of his time in Cambridge. Saron earned First-team All-Ivy honors three times, one First-team All-American and one Second-team All-American honor, and an individual NCAA title.

Saron has continued to dominate this current academic year. He has proved successful on both the team and individual stages, with his most recent title coming last weekend after a victory at the Men’s Sabre World Cup in Budapest.

USA Fencing men’s squad is set to officially announce who will be competition in Paris at 10 a.m. on Wednesday.
