One Person Injured in Central Square Shooting
One person was injured in a shooting near Central Square late Wednesday night, the second shooting in Cambridge in less than two days, according to a Cambridge Police Department emergency alert.
Emergency responders received a call shortly before midnight reporting that a person had been shot near Columbia Terrace, an affordable housing development. Responders found one person injured at the scene and transported them to a hospital.
CPD did not provide details on the person’s condition.
CPD said it was actively investigating the shooting but did not believe there was any broader danger to the public, according to the alert, sent shortly after 1:30 a.m. Thursday.
The shooting comes just over a day after CPD responded to reports of gunfire near Russell Field in North Cambridge on Tuesday afternoon. Officers found one person injured at the scene and transported them to a hospital. CPD has not revealed whether a suspect has been arrested, but said that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
