In Photos: Boston Climate Strike 2019
On Sept. 20, more than four million protesters took part in a global demonstration to call attention to climate change. Divest Harvard — an organization advocating for the University to divest its endowment from the fossil fuel industry — organized a rally in Science Center Plaza. Harvard affiliates and students from nearby schools gathered on campus before joining a larger rally at Boston City Hall Plaza.

Thousands of concert-goers swarmed the Harvard Athletic Stadium across the Charles River for the 10th annual Boston Calling Music Festival from May 24 to 26. The three-day event featured performances from over 50 different artists of different genres — from rapper Travis Scott to lo-fi recording artist Clairo.

“Each artist is mindful about Central Square, its past, its present, its future,” Monestime says. “The neighborhood is changing, the property ownership is changing. The neighborhood could lose its authenticity, and we don’t want that to happen.”

The Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association of New England hosted Boston’s 2019 Lion Dance Parade Jan. 27 to celebrate the Year of the Pig. The parade featured ten local lion dance troupes, including the Wah Lum Kung Fu Athletic Association, the Boston Chinese Free Masons Athletic Club, and the Calvin Chin Martial Arts Academy.

Bryce Dallas Howard braved the frigid temperatures as she waved to on lookers during the Hasty Pudding Woman of the Year Parade, which was followed by a roast inside Farkas Hall. The actress, producer, and director was joined by members of The Hasty Pudding Theatrics dressed in colorful outfits as they danced through the streets.
